What information I collect and why

I collect and use personal information so that I can provide safe, personalised doula support and run my small business. This may include:

  • Your name and contact details (phone number, email address)

  • Your postal address

  • Information about your pregnancy, birth plans and family situation that you choose to share with me

I use this information to:

  • Respond to your enquiries

  • Arrange and provide birth and postnatal doula support

  • Keep basic records for my accounts and business administration

I only collect information that is relevant and necessary for these purposes.

Lawful basis for using your information

Under UK data protection law, I must have a “lawful basis” for using your personal information.

For most of my work, I rely on:

  • Contract – I need to collect and use your information so that I can provide doula services to you and keep in touch with you about those services.

In some situations, I may also rely on:

  • Legal obligation – for example, keeping basic records for tax and accounting purposes.

  • Consent – for example, if you ask me to keep in touch with you about future services or events.

If I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting me using the details above.

Your data protection rights

  • Your right to rectification – You can ask me to correct or complete information you think is inaccurate or incomplete.

  • Your right to restriction of processing – In some circumstances, you can ask me to limit how I use your information.

  • Your right to object to processing – In some circumstances, you can object to me using your information.

  • Your right to data portability – In some circumstances, you can ask me to transfer the information you gave me to another organisation, or to you.

  • Your right to withdraw consent – If I am relying on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

If you make a request, I will respond without undue delay and within one month where possible.

Where I get your information from

I usually get your personal information directly from you, for example when you:

  • Fill in a contact form

  • Email, message or phone me

  • Talk to me during our meetings or calls

How long I keep your information

I keep your personal information only for as long as I reasonably need it for the purposes set out in this notice, and to meet any legal or accounting requirements.

In general:

  • Enquiry emails and messages are kept for up to 1 year.

  • Client records are kept for up to 7 years after our work together ends, in line with common professional and tax record‑keeping guidance.

After this time, I will securely delete or anonymise your information.

Cookies and website use

My website is hosted on the Wix platform. Like many websites, it uses cookies and similar technologies to help it run properly and to understand how visitors use the site.
