About Penny - Birth and Postnatal Doula in East Sussex

Hello! I’m Penny Bigwood, and I am a doula living and working in the heart of the Weald.

As a mother to two grown-up children and a proud grandmother to a gorgeous baby boy, I bring a wealth of personal experience and warmth to my practice.

I truly believe that having constant, nurturing, and non-judgemental support can transform the journey into parenthood.

I feel very fortunate that my work as a birth and postnatal doula gives me the privilege to support families throughout East Sussex and into Kent and West Sussex as well.

Because every family is unique, I focus on building a real connection with you. Whether this is your first arrival or you are growing your family, I take the time to understand your values and hopes for your birth and the precious early days that follow.

In addition to my comprehensive doula training, I am qualified in Biomechanics for Birth. This involves using gentle movements and optimal positioning to support your body's natural physiology, making your baby’s journey into the world a little easier. I integrate these techniques into my antenatal sessions to ensure you feel confident and prepared.

When I am not supporting my lovely doula clients, I love spending time with family and friends and enjoy walking my dog in the beautiful Wealden countryside – it helps me stay grounded, calm and present for the families I work with.
